During his presidency, I excused much of Trump’s behavior and past indiscretions (even overlooking the “grab her by the pus*y” remarks) primarily because he was doing more for the pro-life cause than any president before him, and because I convinced myself that he was a changed man. I also came to understand that many of his “offensive” comments are actually rooted in a unique sense of humor that can be rather amusing at times.
Now that Roe’s been overturned and Trump’s chosen to dump on pro-lifers by wrongly blaming them for losses in the midterms, and since it’s apparent he embraces much of the LGBT agenda, it’s reasonable for social conservatives to re-examine their support for Trump; especially when his main competition is a young GOP governor who’s managed to govern as the best of Trump without the chaos, scandals, and shady provocateurs who cling to Trump like intoxicated parasites.
The DeSantis camp has done well so far to ignore Trump and allow his campaign to implode organically, which I’m confident it will. Yes, Trump is ahead in the polls, but it’s still early days and DeSantis hasn’t even announced yet.
Being a great redemption story enthusiast, I’ve been naively hoping we’d have by now witnessed an evolution in Trump’s character; one that’s been positively influenced by the non-parasites in his camp who are religious and ethical conservative thinkers.
Sadly, Trump’s Truth Social posts coupled with the childish demeanour of his yappy attack dogs, reveal that Trump hasn’t learned a thing and that if anything, he’s doubling down on the behaviour that many of us chose to overlook while he was delivering on promises to make America great again.
No politician deserves a personal loyalty that takes precedence over loyalty to a nation, especially when that nation’s being battered by demonic forces on every possible front. Although there’s not a politician alive who can save America on his own, it’s imperative that the person elected president in 2024 sets an example of fearless, moral leadership that places the country’s needs before his own.
